Brief Description of Research ProjectThe results of this research will enrich the existing knowledge of bridge condition
evaluation, which currently relies only on crack severity and extent measures. By
demonstrating the impact of localized, concentrated cracking on the structural integrity
of concrete bridge decks, this study will provide an additional layer of critical measure
to determine bridge conditions. This enhanced knowledge will enable bridge
management practices to translate surface cracks with greater precision, leading to a
more accurate evaluation of the overall bridge condition. Ultimately, the findings of this
project will contribute to establishing more efficient and needed bridge maintenance
strategies.
